Everything You Need to Know About Your Pool Opening

A pool opening is a professional seasonal service that transitions your pool from its winterized state back to a clean, safe, swim-ready condition. It involves removing your winter cover, reconnecting and testing all equipment, cleaning debris that accumulated over the off-season, and balancing your water chemistry so you can enjoy your pool as soon as possible. Here is what is included, and what is not, so there are no surprises on service day.

๐Ÿ’ง

Important: Water Level Must Be Correct Before We Arrive

Your pool's water level must be at the middle of the skimmer opening before your scheduled opening appointment. If the water level is too low, we will not be able to prime the pump or properly test your filtration system, which means we may not be able to complete your opening that day. THERE IS A $150 CHARGE IF THE POOL IS NOT FILLED TO THE CORRECT LEVEL BEFORE OUR ARRIVAL. If your pool has lost water over the winter, please begin filling it at least 24 to 48 hours before your appointment to allow enough time. If you are unsure about the correct level, give us a call and we are happy to walk you through it.

โœ… What's Included

  • Removal of your winter cover (we will clean, fold, and leave the cover on-site for storage for an additional charge)
  • Removal of winterizing plugs and ice compensators from all return jets and skimmers
  • Reconnection and reassembly of pump, filter, heater, chlorinator, and all other equipment
  • System priming, startup, and thorough leak inspection of all visible plumbing and fittings
  • Installation of skimmer baskets, return eyeballs, drain covers, and any standard accessories
  • Comprehensive water chemistry testing and initial chemical treatment (shock, pH adjustment, algaecide)
  • Surface skimming and brushing of walls and floor to dislodge winter debris
  • Visual inspection of pool structure, tile line, and coping for damage or wear
  • Detailed service report with photos documenting your pool's condition

๐Ÿšซ What's Not Included

  • Filling the pool or adjusting water level (this must be done by the homeowner beforehand)
  • Vacuuming heavy debris from the pool floor (available as an add-on service)
  • Equipment repairs or part replacements (quoted separately if issues are found)
  • Acid washing, stain removal, or deep tile cleaning
  • Draining or replacing pool water
  • Repair or replacement of damaged winter covers
  • Electrical work or gas line connections (must be handled by a licensed electrician or plumber)
  • Ongoing chemical maintenance beyond the initial treatment (see our Weekly Packages)
Need additional services? We offer heavy debris removal, green-to-clean treatments, equipment repairs, and weekly maintenance packages to keep your pool crystal clear all season. Call (302) 652-9794 or email us to discuss what your pool needs.
